DEAN GRIFFIN MEMORIAL AIRPORT OVERLAY PROJECT
CLIENT: CITY OF WIGGINS

Tice Engineering was hired by the City of Wiggins to plan, design and oversee construction of the airport overlay. The project began with securing FAA Airport Improvement Project (AIP) funds for design and testing. Once designed, the city secured additional AIP funds for construction. The City also secured a multi-modal transportation improvements funds through MDOT with the assistance of Tice Engineering. With funding secured, Tice Engineering designed and oversaw the overlay of the 3,500 linear foot runway, taxiways, north and south aprons, and access road. The project required coordination with FAA and MDOT Aeronautics Division on a federal and state level and coordination between the County, City and the Economic Development Partnership on a local level.
